Seguramente, si no eres un programador o un interesado en el tema, no sepas que la mayor\u00eda de las plataformas que utilizas d\u00eda a d\u00eda, est\u00e1n empleando, para su funcionamiento, el c\u00f3digo abierto. <\/strong><\/p>\n

Reconocidas compa\u00f1\u00edas y sitios web utilizan el c\u00f3digo abierto como: Android<\/strong>, que utiliza el conocido sistema Java<\/strong>; Apple<\/strong>, que cre\u00f3 su propio lenguaje con Swift<\/strong>; Facebook<\/strong>, que sigue manteniendo PHP<\/strong>; Instagram<\/strong> con Phyton<\/strong>; e incluso, Whatsapp<\/strong> \u2013 sin el que hoy la vida se ver\u00eda imposible \u2013 que utiliza el lenguaje de programaci\u00f3n Erlang<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

Si los \u201cgrandes tecnol\u00f3gicos\u201d han establecido en su sistema este tipo de software, posiblemente podremos ser testigos de que diversas empresas van a hacerlo tambi\u00e9n.<\/p>\n

De acuerdo con una encuesta realizada por The New Stack y The Linux Foundation (a trav\u00e9s del Grupo TODO) en 2018<\/a><\/strong>, en la que participaron 748 encuestados<\/strong> (la mitad de ellos desarrolladores), el 53% de ellos se\u00f1alaron que su organizaci\u00f3n cuenta con un sistema de software de c\u00f3digo abierto o que, por lo menos, tiene planes de implementar uno en la misma.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Se trata, por tanto, de datos positivos para el ecosistema FLOSS, sobre todo, sabiendo que, seg\u00fan los realizadores de la encuesta, la comunidad estuvo bastante representada, ya que el 21% de los participantes pertenec\u00edan a grandes compa\u00f1\u00edas, mientras que el 42% trabajaban en PYMES. As\u00ed mismo, se espera que en el a\u00f1o 2020 se triplique el n\u00famero de compa\u00f1\u00edas que trabajan con c\u00f3digo abierto.<\/strong><\/p>\n

En cuanto a los beneficios<\/strong> que proporciona el uso de c\u00f3digo abierto en las empresas, la encuesta se\u00f1al\u00f3 tres principales: en primer lugar, el conocimiento del uso y las dependencias del c\u00f3digo abierto; en segundo lugar, una mayor velocidad y agilidad del desarrollador que lo usa; y finalmente, una mejora del cumplimento de las licencias.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Con respecto a la opini\u00f3n de los encuestados sobre estos beneficios, m\u00e1s del 60% consideraron el programa de c\u00f3digo abierto como \u201caltamente cr\u00edtico\u201d<\/strong> para la compa\u00f1\u00eda, teniendo \u201cun impacto significativo en su capacidad para trabajar\u201d. Por tanto, estos sistemas contribuyen a que los desarrolladores sean m\u00e1s productivos.<\/p>\n

\u00bfY los que todav\u00eda no utilizan c\u00f3digo abierto?<\/strong><\/h3>\n

Entre los 77 encuestados que todav\u00eda no trabajan con un sistema de c\u00f3digo abierto, pero que su empresa est\u00e1 planeando implementar uno, el 70% de ellos respondi\u00f3 que para el pr\u00f3ximo a\u00f1o \u2013 2019 \u2013 se espera contar con uno ya en funcionamiento.<\/strong> De la misma forma, la mayor\u00eda de ellos apuntaron que los principales desaf\u00edos para poder establecer un programa de c\u00f3digo abierto radican en saber c\u00f3mo implementar las pol\u00edticas de c\u00f3digo abierto y en \u201ctener la aceptaci\u00f3n y el apoyo de los ejecutivos\u201d, adem\u00e1s de, \u201cencontrar personal legal con experiencia en c\u00f3digo abierto y encontrar los recursos necesarios para cumplir con las licencias\u201d.<\/p>\n

Por otro lado, del 47% de los participantes sin planes por establecer un programa de c\u00f3digo abierto en sus negocios, el 43% de ellos estaban interesados en hacerlo, pero lo desconoc\u00edan<\/strong> y aprendi\u00f3 sobre ellos durante la encuesta. En cuanto al resto, el 42% indicaron la falta de tiempo como un factor determinante<\/strong> para no implementarlo y los dem\u00e1s, en su mayor\u00eda, por la peque\u00f1a magnitud de la empresa y porque no encuentran el valor comercial.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Como conclusi\u00f3n de esta parte de la encuesta, un 70% de los que no cuentan con un programa de c\u00f3digo abierto, consideran que con \u00e9l se obtendr\u00eda beneficios a pesar de los desaf\u00edos que conlleva su establecimiento.<\/strong><\/p>\n
